The Serie A is approaching its final chapters this season and if it's reasonable to assume that the top spot is well secured by Inter Milan, it's a whole different story for all the other Champions League spots. Every team inside the top 5 won their fixtures this weekend, which means that there were no changes in the table and Juventus will remain 3rd in the league, despite their 3-1 home win against Genoa. Today, the Vecchia Signora built a comfortable lead early in the game and managed to go into half-time with a 2-goal lead, thanks to goals from Kulusevski and Morata. The reigning champions were feeling like they had hit the jackpot at the Echtgeld Casino, as they had everything under control in this clash. In the second half, Genoa got back in the game by reducing the lead to one goal, but McKennie restored the "cushion advantage" by scoring his team's third goal of the day. Cristiano Ronaldo couldn't score this weekend, but he's still the league's top scorer with 25 goals.

Job done in the first half...
Juventus won their second straight game in the Serie A, defeating Genoa by 3-1 and grabbing the 3 points that allowed them to maintain the 3rd spot on the top of the Serie A table. Cristiano Ronaldo was looking to extend his scoring record today, but the Portuguese star was unlucky in several occasions and even hit the post in one of them, just before Álvaro Morata's goal in the first half.
Pirlo preferred not to change many of his players in today's encounter, and repeated the same lineup he had used against Napoli in mid-week, with the only difference being Alex Sandro, who was replaced by Kulusveski and Szcesny in goal, replacing Buffon. Cristiano Ronaldo played next to Morata in the Bianconeri's attack, but the Spanish forward would be subbed off for Dybala near the 68th minute of the second half.
Juventus got the early lead in the first half, when a good cross from Cuadrado on the right found Kulusevski with space inside Genoa's box. The Swedish international showed all his class when he finished it off by curling the ball into the top corner, making it 1-0 for Juventus, still inside the first 5 minutes of the game. This was also Kulusevski's 4th goal in the Serie A this season.
The hosts' second goal of the day took place shortly after, around the 22nd minute of the first half. It all started on a brilliant run from Federico Chiesa, who made use of his incredible pace in a counter-attack to get himself in a shooting position and force the goalkeeper to block his shot, leaving Ronaldo with a golden chance to put it away. However, the Portuguese forward was too close to the post and his touch sent the ball straight to it, which eventually resulted in a great assist to Morata. The Spanish international then finished it off with ease and Juve were happy to go into half-time leading by two.

With a 2-goal lead coming into the second half, the Italian champions relaxed a bit too much and that ended up allowing Genoa to revive their hopes of still pulling off a positive result in Turin. The visitors had already had a few good opportunities to score a goal in the first half, but they only managed to shake the back of the net in the 49th minute, when a corner kick gave Scamacca the chance he needed. The Italian forward beat Szczesny with a great header and all of a sudden, Juventus had to react in order to avoid a bigger upset.
Andrea Pirlo changed a few pieces of his puzzle later in the second half, bringing in Dybala and McKennie near the 70th minute of the game. The North-American turned out to be a crucial replacement in today's clash, as he managed to score Juve's third goal in this game in his first action on the pitch. He exploited the space Genoa left him on the right side of the attack and once he found himself with only the goalkeeper in front of him, he kept his composure and scored his 5th goal in the Serie A this season.
With the 2-goal lead restored, Juventus showed no difficulties to control the game until the end and secure the important 3 points. Next weekend the Bianconeri face a very tough challenge, as they travel to Bergamo to play against Atalanta.
