It was an important win for the Bianconeri, especially since they were coming off an troubled international break, with a lot of long trips and flight time weighing on multiple Juventus' players. Nevertheless, the Italian champions responded well and made easy work of Cagliari this Saturday night, beating the "Rossoblu" by two goals to nil and collecting the 3 points. With this win, the Vecchia Signora puts some additional pressure on the league leaders, AC Milan, who will be traveling to the south of Italy tomorrow night, to face Napoli. There was not other way to approach tonight's game, but to take it very seriously and grab the 3 points no matter what. Juventus were sitting in 8th place in the Serie A prior to this game, as AC Milan was comfortably on top holding a 4-point gap to the reigning champions. Losing points this weekend would probably mean not only seeing AC Milan extending the gap, but also falling even further behind other rivals that have title aspirations.
Pirlo didn't risk too much in tonight's clash against Cagliari and played Buffon in goal, with a back-four formed by Danilo, De Ligt, Demiral and Cuadrado. In midfield, the champions played with Arthur, Rabiot, Bernardeschi and Kulusevski, leaving the attacking spots to Cristiano Ronaldo and Álvaro Morata.
The opening goal took place in the 38th minute of the first half and what a brilliant goal it was. Cristiano Ronaldo picked up a pass from Álvaro Morata near one of the edges of Cagliari's box and as soon as he was given some space to step forward, he cut inside, got past two opponents and curled the ball into the far post. A truly remarkable goal from the Portuguese forward, who managed to break the visitors down with his individual brilliance.

The hosts were determined in getting a "cushion goal" as soon as possible and they relied on Ronaldo to achieve it once again. This time, the Portuguese striker found himself on the right place at the right time and made sure Demiral's header was given the best deflection possible, by striking the ball with his right foot and giving no chances for Cagliari's goalkeeper to react in time. That was Ronaldo's second goal in the game and his 8th in the league this season, even though he only has 5 appearances so far...
With a 2-goal advantage, Juventus naturally slowed down their attacking pace in the second half and Cagliari quite simply couldn't step up their game and create any kind of troubles for the Italian champions. The Bianconeri still had multiple good chance to scored a third goal at their disposal, but for one reason or another, the ball just didn't want to go in anymore...
The next league game for Juventus is against Benevento and if logic prevails, the Bianconeri shouldn't face too many difficulties to beat their opponents, as they have already lost their last 4 fixtures in the Serie A.
