Real Madrid lost 2-1 in their trip to Valencia this Wednesday evening, after seeing Los Ché taking a 2-goal lead early in the first half and which Ronaldo was the only one able to answer it, with a goal just before the break. Next Sunday? Another tough trip, this time against Villarreal...

Valencia may not be the team we've been used to see competing in the past, but that doesn't mean Real Madrid can go into a game like this and be complacent. However, that's precisely what happened in tonight's 2-1 loss and the Merengues paid for their mistake by letting these important 3 points at the Mestalla. The hosts didn't lose any time showing they were taking tonight's game very seriously and they found themselves 2 goals up inside the first 10 minutes. The European champions's response came from another Cristiano Ronaldo a couple minutes before half-time, but for one reason or another, it just didn't spark the 2nd half reaction Zidane was certainly looking for...

Games at the Mestalla are never comfortable regardless of where Madrid and Valencia are in the league and today was no different, as Valencia recorded a 2-1 victory over Real Madrid.

There were some serious mistakes made in this match and it was especially disappointing considering how well Madrid have played as of late. The first 15 minutes were atrocious, as Madrid looked completely out of it. Vázquez in for Modric was a mistake. A good midfield would've helped Madrid in the last few minutes. Defensive mistakes led to the goals... Both Marcelo and Raphael Varane are accountable for that, but they can have a bad game as well. It's just a shame it had to come at this time...

Varane had an extremely poor game, especially based on his play this season. Hopefully it's not a trend that continues.

The nightmare started early on, when on loan striker Simone Zara turned and hammered an unstoppable shot into the top corner in the 4th minute. Soon after, another new Valencia player, Fabian Orellana, slotted home after Nani squared the ball to him and Madrid were immediatlely two goals down.

Cristiano Ronaldo would give Madrid a glimmer of hope with a header in the 44th from a Marcelo cross, but there would be no heroics today. Real keep their one point lead over Barcelona, and though Madrid still have a game in hand. It's certainly closer than it should be at this point, considering Barça's failures this season.
