10.12.2016 » Real Madrid 3-2 Deportivo. Ramos saves the day again!

Sergio Ramos with the winning goal at the Bernabéu in Real Madrid 3-2 Deportivo

Real Madrid are now on a 35-game unbeaten streak but they had to suffer to get past Deportivo, this Saturday night at the Bernabéu. The Merengues only scored the winning goal in injury time thanks to a powerful header from Sergio Ramos, in a game where they had been trailing by one inside the last 10 minutes of the match.

It's not over until Sergio Ramos says it is. That's been the key note in many of Real Madrid games over the past few years and today, the captain delivered again the 3 points with a late header in a 3-2 win over Deportivo de la Coruña. It was going to be a difficult game nevertheless, especially after Zinedine Zidane had announced his decision of resting several key players ahead of their trip to Japan next week, where they'll be playing at the FIFA Club World Cup. Tonight, it was all about perserverance. Real Madrid found themselves behind in the last minutes of the game, but they never turned dropped their arms and ended up being rewarded late in the second half. Morata, Mariano and Sergio Ramos scored a goal each and secured the win for the Merengues.

Real Madrid 3-2 Deportivo - Goals and highlights:

Ramos O'clock strikes again as the European champions' captain has again rescued Real Madrid with a late last minute goal to win a 3-2 thriller at the Bernabeu, after Deportivo La Courna had already taken the lead twice previously.

There was so much happening in this game, from the players Madrid omitted, the lineup picked by Zidane, to the up and down performance, to the jubilation at the end.

There are few words to describe what we've just seen. With Ronaldo, Benzema and Modric not even on the team sheet, Real Madrid looked to finish 2016 on a high before jetting off to the Club World Cup.

Unfortunately, Deportivo were out to spoil the party and the Galacian side made things very very difficult at the Bernabeu. Morata's opening goal in the second half put Madrid fans at ease, but within a two-minute period, Joselu was able to give Deportivo a 2-1 lead. A loss that would jeopardize Madrid's domination at the the top of the table (Barcelona's 3-0 over Osasuna had previously cut the lead).

Sergio Ramos header in Real Madrid 3-2 Deportivo for La Liga 2016-2017

But the remotada was on and Real Madrid have shown themselves to be a team that fights until the end consistently. Mariano off the bench put a well placed "header" (it really bumped off his shoulder actually) past the keeper in the 84th minute. And as Madrid looked for the winner in the dying seconds, only one man could be called upon.

Jumping majestically into the air to head home a Toni Kroos corner it was none other than Sergio Ramos, who yet again became the hero for Madrid. 3-2 and the Merengues maintain their six point lead at the top of the table.

Sergio Ramos is quickly cementing himself as the most clutch player in the history of the sport.

Madrid struggled at times today, but it's now 35 games unbeaten under Zidane orders. The spirit of the club is alive and well! Now we go on to the Club World Cup full of confidence.
